Resumo

Contemporary scholarly communication is based on the Forth Paradigm, linked to a scientific environment known as eScience. All features present in this paradigm are based on open data research promoting a more innovative open science. In this scenario, scientific research is developed with the aid of data management tools and models such as the Data Lifecycle. This work is the result of a doctoral research in progress that aims to apply the Data life cycle model in a research experiment called e-QuiltPrototype. This prototype is an open electronic platform aimed for experimentation, with input and output trials for the adoption of models, patterns, protocols, tools and softwares potentially used for data management. The methodology is exploratory, descriptive and experimental with quantitative analysis. The Quadripolar method is also used based on its four poles such as: the epistemological, theoretical, morphological and technical ones. The universe of study was composed by primary data extracted froma research in oral health. Results describe phase 2 of the experiment. Preliminarily, it was possible to conclude that Data Lifecycle model from DataONE has proven to be adequate regarding scientific opendata management and that can be applied to different knowledge areas. It was also seen that in order to achieve efficiente scientific data management it is necessary to adopt the right tools, patterns as well as protocols present in all eight stages of the cycle.
